Castle Cottage cafe, Oakham- Rutland

I have become known for being a little bit obsessed with Castle Cottage.

It's an all-time favourite place of mine and one of the first places I go to to catch up with friends or enjoy a quick treat with my mum.
It's a perfectly picturesque and beautifully decorated cafe in a sweet little converted house and country garden round the side of the All Saints Church in Oakham,Rutland.

Full of perfectly coordinated vintage and shabby-chic country style decorations coordinated by Patricia Roberts, it is one of the most welcoming and cosy places I know- even better in the summer when their beautiful garden is adorned with patio tables, chairs and bunting to sip tea and enjoy scones in the sun.

The flower arranging and seasonal decorations are always beautiful and so creative!

Their summerhouse is a little haven in the summer adorned with floral china plates and bunting.

They serve a great menu of hot and cold drinks including presses, ice-cream milkshakes and flavoured coffees or hot chocolates as well as a bountiful supply of freshly baked cakes, scones and lunches.

The food is deliciously homemade and their chalk board often features a hot special such as a warm Rutland sausage baguette or chilli con carne as well as jacket potatoes, paninis salads and sandwiches.

My personal favourite is their afternoon tea for two served on a delicate china tiered cake stand with a whole array of perfectly constructed British sandwiches and delicious cakes and scones- a total indulgence!

The cafe is always bustling with people, friendly staff and a menu of feel-good treats that make it perfect for any occasion or just a spot of coffee.

They're also very accommodating to allergies (such as gluten free people like me) and always have gluten free cake on the menu-which is delicious!

They are currently extending the cafe on the second flower to allow even more people to enjoy the cosy atmosphere.

It's earnt a brilliant reputation and is always busy whatever time of day.

They also offer the cafe as a venue for special occasions or large groups.

Don't miss out- it's a lovely place for a morning coffee, saturday lunch or afternoon tea. You'll be sure to make a return visit.
